GOOD THIEF SET TO DEBUT: REBELLIOUS NHẬU AND COCKTAIL BAR IN VANCOUVER

Exciting Sibling of Anh and Chi Serves up “Cocktails, Bites and Sticky Fingers” in Mount Pleasant

Anticipation and excitement is in the air as we prepare for Good Thief’s grand opening on Thursday, July 11! Nestled at 3336 Main Street (next to Anh and Chi), Good Thief is a reinterpretation of Vietnamese culture and culinary artistry with innovative cocktails and “món nhậu”. Building on the success of our sibling, Anh and Chi, we introduce to you the “rebellious” younger brother. Here, every bite packs a punch and each cocktail ignites a new passion. Open for dinner and late night bites, we promise to be around for a good time and a long time.

Good Thief is inspired by the adventures of global exploration and a relentless quest for culinary creativity. This modern-day Robin Hood of the culinary world draws from diverse ingredients, cooking techniques, and dishes from around the globe, weaving them into a tapestry of flavours that celebrate community and connection.

Good Thief reimagines Vietnam’s rich culinary heritage through a contemporary lens, presenting a luxurious selection of cocktails and experimental share plates. The menu immerses guests in “nhậu,” a cherished Vietnamese tradition of gathering to eat, drink, and engage in spirited conversation. It’s about clinking glasses, enjoying each round, and forging bonds among family, friends, and even strangers—a celebration of togetherness.

Co-founder & Creative Director, Amelie Thuy Nguyễn, describes it best: “If Anh and Chi is the perfect child of a Vietnamese family, then Good Thief is the rebellious younger sibling. Here, rules do not apply because we celebrate being different.”

The passionate and talented team at Good Thief includes Vincent Nguyễn as Owner and Head of Operations, Amelie Nguyễn as Co-founder and Creative Director, Ashlee Jarvis as General Manager, Ben Kingstone as Beverage Director, and Jonathan Lee, formerly of Blue Water Cafe as Chef de Cuisine. Together, they have crafted a menu that merges the best of traditional and modern influences to create something that will surprise and romance you.

Beverage Director Ben Kingstone’s cocktail menu, inspired by the legendary Vietnamese folk hero Trạng Quỳnh, showcases innovative ingredients, spotlighting bold flavours and house-made elements, including unique ice and spirits. The selection extends to non-alcoholic handmade sodas, local beer collaborations, and a curated wine list featuring unique and exclusive finds.

Chef Jonathan Lee’s culinary menu is a symphony of exotic flavours and ingredients, from crispy pomme frites with curry leaf and Thai green chili aioli to sticky frog legs glazed with Mẹ’s fish sauce. Plant-based options like house-made chawanmushi-style silken tofu with heirloom tomato dashi, shiso, and Thai basil offer a delightful twist, while larger share plates such as Pho-spiced oxtail crépinette is and Brant Lake Wagyu flat iron steak with Vietnamese chimichurri promise a feast for the senses.

Stepping into Good Thief is like entering a chic 1970s Saigon bar that is both modern and luxurious. Branded by Melbourne’s Studio Round and designed by Vancouver’s Ste Marie Studio, Good Thief takes inspiration from 1960s/70s Quasar Khan’s inflatable furniture with custom lighting designed by Eric Binder. The 40-seater space combines East and West in a nostalgic yet contemporary design, featuring drapery, brass accents, and playful pops of color. Good Thief encourages you to settle in, loosen up and get comfortable with being surprised.

Continuing the philanthropic spirit of Anh and Chi, Good Thief introduces the Reservation by Donation program. This initiative allows guests to reserve a table by donating $10 per person to a charity of their choice, with all donations, dollar for dollar, going directly to the selected charities. This innovative approach has already raised over $300,000 through Anh and Chi, making every visit to Good Thief a chance to contribute to meaningful causes while enjoying an exceptional dining experience.
