Celebrating Excellence: Amélie and Vincent Nguyễn Inducted into the BC Restaurant Hall of Fame as Rising Stars
Our team at Good Thief is beyond proud to celebrate the induction of our co-owners, Amélie and Vincent Nguyễn, into the BC Restaurant Hall of Fame as Rising Stars. This prestigious honour highlights their immense dedication, creativity, and the heart they’ve brought to shaping not just one, but two restaurant spaces where both guests and staff feel truly at home.
At the awards ceremony, the sibling duo sat among other celebrated industry leaders, all of whom have made extraordinary contributions to hospitality. To see Amélie and Vincent humbly take the stage was a moment we’ll all remember. In their acceptance speech, they paid tribute to those who helped bring their vision to life—first at Anh and Chi, then here at Good Thief. They honoured their father, who dreamed of bringing authentic Vietnamese cuisine paired with top-tier cocktails and wine to our city, and their mother, an exceptional Michelin Bib Gourmand chef, who continues to be the first to arrive at Anh and Chi everyday. They also shared their gratitude for our entire team—an inspiring group that brings talent, energy, and dedication to the table every day.
Amélie and Vincent’s story is one of resilience. Having originally pursued careers in healthcare, they came home when their father passed, ready to help their mother and carry forward his legacy. As Vincent shared in his speech, “When I left med school in 2015, I thought I was coming home to help my mother keep our family restaurant afloat. Never in our wildest dreams did we think we’d be here today, making a difference in our industry, our community.”
This focus on community led to their creation of the Reservation by Donation program, an initiative that, with the support of so many wonderful patrons, has raised over $344,000 in donations in just three years. What started as a creative response to the pandemic has grown into an ongoing effort to inspire positive change in the hospitality industry, one reservation at a time.
This award isn’t just a recognition of Amélie and Vincent’s individual accomplishments—it’s a testament to the values we hold as a team. With honours including three consecutive Michelin Bib Gourmand Awards (2022-2024) and several other recognitions, we’re excited for what the future holds. Together, we’ll continue to enhance guest experiences, contribute to the community, and celebrate the lasting mark Amélie and Vincent are making on the industry.
